If they have just discovered this as an oversight and have recently sent you a bill you can write back telling them they are “statute barred” from pursuing the debt under the Limitation Act. Under the Act a creditor has to take action to recover money owed within six years. If however you have acknowledged that you owe the money within the last six years, or made a payment towards this debt within that period, you will have to pay up.
